Welcome to Wanlip Sailing Club
Race DayOpened in 1972, Wanlip Sailing Club is an 11 acre lake just North of Leicester. We have a clubhouse with separate male and female changing rooms, as well as a fully stocked bar, and catering facilities. There is ample car and boat parking, and boats can be rigged on the foreshore.
Safety Boat cover is usually available on Saturdays and Sundays. Safety Boats are accessible for club members to provide their own cover at other times. At no time is it recommended to sail without providing adequate safety cover.
The club organises racing on Sundays and an extensive programme of race series is available to members.
Visitors are also welcome to try out our lake, please contact a committee member to arrange access and safety cover in advance.
Non racers and non-sailors are welcomed and general sailing takes place on most days. The Club is a not a recognised RYA teaching centre, but does provide sailing assistance through crewing and helming for adults and young people wishing to improve their sailing skills.
Opening Times:
The Club is Open to members at all times. An open day is held each year to encourage people to try sailing and improve their sailing skills.
Our racing season starts in late February and carries on through to the middle of December. There is also racing New Year's Day, weather permitting.
'Allo 'Allo!
Social events take place throughout the year and are aimed to provide social contact for club members and friends of all ages. The events vary from Quizzes to Barn dances, to camping weekends, and trips to open meetings at other clubs.
